Frequently asked questions
How does Surf Alarm decide when to notify me?
Every morning we fetch the latest swell and wind forecast for each spot. We then compare the conditions against your alarm settings (height, period, swell direction, wind speed, wind direction, and tide). If conditions meet your criteria during your set time window, you get a notification.
Why didn't I get a notification today?
Notifications are only sent when the forecast matches your alarm conditions. If the waves didn't meet your criteria today, no notification is sent. That's by design. Try relaxing your conditions (e.g. allow a wider swell height range or wind speed) to receive more alerts.
Why am I not receiving any notifications at all?
Check the following:
- Notifications are enabled for Surf Alarm in your phone settings.
- You have an active internet connection each morning so the forecast can be fetched.
- Your alarm conditions aren't too strict. If the bar is very high, no days will match. Try relaxing the swell height or wind limits.
Does Surf Alarm have a referral program?
Yes. You can invite friends using your personal referral code, found in the app under Settings. When a friend signs up with your code, both of you get extra free Pro days added to your trial. Share your code from the Invite friends screen inside the app.
What is the 30-day free trial?
Every new account gets 30 days of Pro access at no charge. During the trial you can create unlimited alarms across all 4,500+ spots and use multiple forecast models. After the trial, you can subscribe to Pro (€2.99 / month) or continue on the Free plan (1 spot, 1 alarm).
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). To cancel, open the Subscriptions section in your App Store or Play Store account settings and cancel from there. You keep Pro access until the end of the current billing period.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google. Please request a refund through the platform you purchased from. We are unable to process refunds directly.
What forecast data does Surf Alarm use?
Wave and swell data come from Open-Meteo (ECMWF, GFS, and Météo-France models). Tide data comes from WorldTides. On Pro you can switch between forecast models to compare predictions.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → Delete account inside the app. This permanently removes your account and all associated data. Alternatively, email us at info@motmanhodling.com and we'll delete it for you within 5 business days.
My spot isn't in the list. Can you add it?
We currently have 4,500+ spots worldwide. If your local break is missing, send us the spot name and approximate coordinates and we'll look into adding it.
